WOODHAY WONDER takes the riches.

A talented filly, WOODHAY WONDER wins the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes under P J McDonald for her owners Matthew Webber and Toby Ward. The heavens opened just before the race making conditions testing enough, but Woodhay Wonder travelled well into the race, cruising home to beat joint favourite GEOLOGIST by ½ a length.

“She really appreciated the decent gallop on offer in this big race. She travelled lovely, picked up when asked and went away with a solid effort. The fact that she was on her own most of the race is credit to her tenacity and abilities. I think she will learn plenty again from today and is a filly on the up.

There are a few races we will look at including the Dick Poole at Salisbury, and possibly the Firth of Clyde Stakes at Ayr…and then obviously plan to get her back for the other sales race in Newmarket in October. This was a pleasing run delighted for all connections and hopefully more to come from her.” - Quote from Tom Ward.

This filly was purchased for a modest 26,000gns from Tattersalls Somerville last Autumn and has been a true stalwart for Whitehouse Stables, earning about £85k including her Great British Bonus’.

Winning a prestigious sales race in Newmarket was a huge result for our growing stable and very hardworking yard. We are so proud of our whole team of staff and owners. This result will be properly celebrated!
