About us
Tom Ward is a racehorse trainer, based at the modern, purpose-built yard in Upper Lambourn alongside his wife, Alex. Since beginning their training journey in 2019, Tom & Alex have consistently reached significant milestones and in 2024, they achieved over 100 career winners. With their differing backgrounds in the thoroughbred industry, together they hope to provide their owners with the full package, bringing a plethora of experience and ambition to Tom Ward Racing Ltd.
The stable's equine team is continuing to grow with over 40 horses in training, and include notable individuals such as Woodhay Wonder and Our Golden One. Previous stable stars include Luisa Casati and Roman Mist. The talented equine team have provided Tom Ward Racing so far with 2 Listed wins, and 6 Stakes places. During the 2024 season alone, we saw earnings surpass £300,000 from 18 wins and 34 places, contributing to total earnings exceeding £1.5 million.
TOM WARD
Tom received his licence to train on August 1st 2019 after four years of assisting Classic winning trainer Richard Hannon and one year assisting John O'Shea & Godolphin in Australia.
Since a young age, Tom has wanted to train racehorses. Over the years Tom has worked under the tutelage of trainers, Alain de Royer-Dupré and Francis-Henri Graffard in France; Mark Johnston, John Ferguson and Richard Hannon in the UK; Kiaran McLaughlin in the USA; and John O’Shea and Godolphin in Australia.
ALEX WARD
Alex adds to the training operation from a slightly different perspective, having focused her career to date mostly on bloodstock and breeding.
She previously worked for David Redvers’ Tweenhills Stud, where she was the Nominations and Marketing Executive for four years, having promoted the stud careers of many stallions including the mighty Roaring Lion and Zoustar. Alex’s horsemanship preceded racing, in fact she used to own and compete dressage horses, before she completed stints working on studs and for trainer’s in both France and Australia. Alex hopes to contribute with her experience in bloodstock and will make sure all the owners have a steady stream of communication.
