The horses have been running really well this month, with a frustrating number of 2nd placings, but amongst them all we secured two wins! Read on to find out more…

October’s Runner Highlights

MAGNATURA (pictured above) secured the second win of his career on Sunday 12th October at the Season Finale meeting which took place at Goodwood. The two year old was ridden by Kieran Shoemark for the seven furlong contest.

Drawn in stall 7, the pair were handy away sitting prominently before kicking on to lead in the final two furlongs and won going away by a length and a quarter. Magnatura is by Magna Grecia, out of the Anabaa mare, Morning Line. He is owned by the Whitehouse Stable Syndicate and ridden carrying Richard Pegum’s colours. This takes Magnatura to two wins in five starts and his second win with Kieran Shoemark on board!

The two year old gelding was purchased by Tom and Alex at the December Foal Sale in 2023 and he has been carefully nurtured at Whitehouse Stables to reach his full potential.

ABUNDANT (below) followed up his two previous second placings with a win on his third ever start on 24th October. The two year old colt did it in impressive style winning by five and a half lengths.

George Wood was in the saddle, and drawn in stall one the pair jumped to the front. Two furlongs from home, Abundant was 5 lengths clear and made all to the line, winning comfortably.

The son of Lucky Vega is out of the Danehill Dancer mare, Emreliya. He is owned by The Abundant Syndicate and was purchased from the Tatttersalls Ireland Breeze Up sales for 42,000 Euros. He will now have a break over the winter before an exciting Spring 2026 campaign.

Ones To Watch

It was a month of the horses running into second place with TRANSPARENT and KINGDOM OF STARS placing at Nottingham and Southwell, respectively. MADMAN is another to keep an eye on as he placed second at Leicester on 7th October and should be in the winners enclosure soon.

The old stalwart, DIAMOND BAY was back on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in fantastic form over 2 miles and was just beaten by a head. He will campaign on the all-weather over the winter and hopefully secure a win or two.

TWR YEARLING PARADE 2025

Saturday 25th October was our annual yearling parade and it was a fantastic day! The sun was shining and we had a great turn out to see the class of 2026.

The yearlings that were purchased this autumn were on show, followed by a viewing of the 3 year old filly, LOOK THIS WAY, that has been bought for our new National Hunt string. The parade was followed by a warm lunch in the marquee, including a raffle to win a 7ft Christmas tree, raising money for the Stable Staff Christmas Bonus. And…the conclusion of our silent auction, raising over £900 to contribute to the ‘Dead Slow’ road safety horse campaign here in Lambourn.

This handsome son of Make Believe  (pictured below) was purchased at the Goffs Orby Book 2 sale for 34,000 euros and is the second progeny of the King Theatre mare, Royal Illusion. She was a winner herself, both on the flat in the Irish Cesarewitch & over jumps, placing in a listed race and this colt was purchased with a dual purpose career in mind.

This sharp 2yo type is registered for the valuable £20k GBB scheme and her dam, Exacting, is a proven 2yo producer (Doitforandrew RPR 95) and is from a family of good sprinters including Distinctive, winner of the Gr. 3 Clyde Stakes, and Mgheera, winner of the Gr. 3 Prix St George & Gr. 2 Temple Stakes.

HORSE TRADE MARKET

Each year about this time we need to assess the value of our racehorses in training and weigh up their futures here at Whitehouse Stables. Horse racing is a passion and a fantastic pastime, but it can also be an investment. Therefore, trading horses when they are at their most valuable can be important.

Three ‘form’ horses from TWR went to the October Horses In Training sale at Tattersalls Newmarket, which runs from Monday 27th October until Saturday 1st November.

One of which was, Transparent, a 3yo gelding rated RPR 91. Having won two races and placed on six additional occasions from only 11 career starts he has been a great horse for connections. And, a horse that still has miles in the tank and therefore value to be had. Originally purchased for 54,000gns at the Breeze Up sales in 2024, he sold for 80,000gns to go race in Bahrain, an emerging hub in the international racing scene.  We wish him continued success in the future.

We also purchase ‘form’ horses to add to our stable. So Tom is back at the sales looking for horse to buy with angles anew!

Amongst them was a gelding called, The Crafty Mole bought for 22,000gns. A horse whose value added will hopefully come over hurdles this winter and further staying contests next summer. A seven time winner over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 2 miles and already proven his ability to jump after arriving home here we are really excited about what fun be could bring to our new National Hunt division.
