Luisa Casati wins Listed

LUISA CASATI gave us all a huge thrill when she surpassed the favourite to win the Warwick Fillies' Stakes (Listed) at Goodwood.

Jockey Richard Kingscote very patiently allowed her to progress into the race and then was very happy to feel her pick up impressively, showing enough speed to advance from last to first beating the short favourite, Time Lock. The mare has now also given us plenty of confidence that she can handle slightly better ground, therefore opening the door to plenty of opportunities this summer.

‘It was fantastic for the team who put so much effort into these horses to get a result like this. She has always been a mare we’ve thought plenty of, but she has taken a while to fully come to herself. We will now look at a couple of Group 3’s at the end of the month including York and Haydock. She does appreciate slower conditions so we will be mindful in what we do next. I hope she can get some Group Black type towards the second half of this season.’

Bred by Mount Coote and Mark Dixon, the Vadamos mare has come into her own at the maturing age of five. Last season she finished 4th in the Rothesay Stakes (Listed), teasing us with her Black type abilities, but this year she’s proved it also placing 3rd in the Listed Prix de la Porte de Madrid at Saint-Cloud on her first start in 2023.

Congratulations to Velocity Racing Syndicate, set up by the recently retired trainer Harry Dunlop who leased the mare from us to race for the season. Best of luck to you all for the rest of the year.
