A 2021 Double
Tom Ward Racing reached an exciting milestone yesterday (Wednesday 3 February) when training a double at Kempton Racecourse. Having sent out three promising runners to the course we hoped for a good evening, but with two winners and a placed debutant the empty track transformed into a bright platform for TWR and a pinnacle moment for the team.
‘The horses have been running really well since the turn of the year, so it was great to be able to get off the mark with two excellent performances.’ Trainer.
BEAUTY STONE, has become a good servant for TWR and her owner, Sam Sangster. Having won already under Hollie, it was not a total surprise that she would land another victory with her, but starting at 16/1 this was a brilliant touch, and the close finish on the line added a bit of drama to the evening.
‘She’s a sweet filly with a very willing attitude and showed good tenacity to get her head in front on the line. She has progressed really nicely since we have stepped her up in trip and she is one that is more than capable of winning again.’ Trainer.
The second winner, ZHUI FENG who joined the yard having been purchased from Amanda Perrett at the AUT HIT sale has become a favourite here at TWR. Knowing he has plenty of back class, he was an exciting prosect for our yard to take on and a horse we hope might bring us to some big meetings in the summer.
‘He is a living legend and needs no introduction. We were very excited to pick him up and he seems really well in himself. There will be some fun days left in this horse with some big handicaps in mind. He seems to enjoy passing horses and this looks like a new tactic that might get the old boy back to his best.’ Trainer.
His rejuvenated self under jockey, Tom Marquand has left his owners Bighouse Syndicate, Charlie and Julia Rosier as well as the TWR team dreaming about where we could head next.
With 2021 now off to a good start we look forward to plenty more exciting days for our supportive owners and hardworking team.
